Twitter is proposing to increase the size limit of tweets from 140 characters to 10,000. This is equivalent to roughly 2000 words. When Twitter boss Jack Dorsey announced the proposal he said he loves tweetstorms, so presumably he knows there will be widespread disapproval from Twitter users. This change aims to revive Twitter's fortunes but is more likely to upset the established user base.
